Survivors include three daughters, Gale G. Smith and Julia G. Smoak, both of Statesboro, and Dr. Grace G. Newsome, Augusta; seven sons, Benjamin E. Groover, Samuel E. Groover, Gilbert Groover, Wayne Groover, Warren Groover, Stevie Groover and Elder Al Groover, all of Statesboro; three sisters, Ruby Hart and Thelma Elliott, both of Augusta, and Esther Groover, Statesboro; and 24 grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Michael Newman and Elder Shelton Mikell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hodges-Turner Funeral Home.
