John L. McKindley, 88, of Lodi, died Oct. 31. He was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Lodi.
Mr. McKindley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a machine operator for General Mills. He was a member of the Lodi Avenue Baptist Church, the Clements/Lockeford Lions and Tokay A's model A club, and a life member of the American Legion. He was a big fan of the Giants baseball, and he loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his daughters, Rita Ahart , of Lodi, Nancy S. Underwood, of Hawaii, and Dale Passeggi, of Lodi; son, Chris McKindley, of Lodi; brothers, Ray McKindley, of Lodi, Cecil McKindley, of Stockton, Lester McKindley, of Sly-Park, and Vince McKindley, of California; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue P. McKindley; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Donahue Funeral Home. Committal will be at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Donahue Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Donahue Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
