Mrs. Mae McKindley, 64, a long-time and well-known resident of Acampo, passed away early Saturday morning in a local hospital following an illness of many months.

She was the wife of the late Earnest McKindley, Acampo area farmer to whom she was married Dec 25, 1910 and who died in 1941.

A native of Monterey, Mrs. McKindley spent her childhood years in Tuolumne County, and moved to Acampo in 1907 with her parents, the late John Tenney and Mrs. Mary Tenney, now of Healdsburg.

The Tenney family operated the old Ray Hotel, long since destroyed by fire.

Mrs. McKindley made her home at Rt 2, Box 194, Acampo, and had resided in this district continuously since moving here in 1907.

Well known especially in Odd Fellows circles, she was a past noble grand of the Lockeford Live Oak Rebekah Lodge 89.

Besides her mother, the deceased leaves 10 children: They are Mahlon McKindley of Los Angeles; Mrs. Erma Allen, Mrs. Ruth Wageman and Mrs. Marilyn Thompson, all of Acampo; Mrs. Edna Bear and Cecil McKendley [sic] both of Stockton; Ray and Lester McKindley, both of Lodi; John McKindley of Atlanta, GA; and Vincent McKindley, with the U. Among other survivors are 18 grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Josephine Gill of Philo, and an aunt, Mrs. Emma Barton of San Jose.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, from the chapel of the Lodi Funeral Home, with the Rev. Benjamin Smith of Stockton officiating.
