Emma Johnston Spiva was born Sept 23 1867 to Rev. David M. Johnston & Margaret Jane Ledbetter. Emma's granddaughter related the story that Emma's father was a preacher that lived to be 100 years old, but it turns out that he passed away at age 91. Old enough to impress his great granddaughter though.

Emma & her husband, Pleasant Spiva had 6 children (all whose names started with an "R"), and lived in Yuba City after they came out from OK. She took her religion seriously and they gave property next to their home to build a church for their brethern. She died on July 16, 1942 at age 74, probably in Yuba City, Sutter county, CA.
