Jacob (Jake) Lockart, 72 of Moweaqua died at7:40 pm yesterday at home after a two year illness. He was a farmer near Moweaqua for 43 years until his retirement two years ago. Mt. Lockart moved into Moweaqua after he retired from farming. He attended the Moweaqua Christian church. He was a member of the Anti Thief Assn of Shelby county.
He was born in Cowden on Dec. 29, 1888, a son of George and Rachel Austin Lockart. He married Corda Christie June 7, 1911 in Shelbyville. He leaves his wife, daughters, Mrs. Virginia Adams, Mrs. Wanda Baird, both of Moweaqua, a brother, Jesse, Moweaqua, sisters, Mrs. Elsie Perryman and Mrs. Edna Barton, both of Cowden, a foster-son, Carl Wyatt of Moweaqua, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday in Moweaqua Christian church. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery in Moweaqua. Friends may call after 5 pm Monday at the Ater funeral home in Moweaqua.
