Ruby was born 18 September 1907 in Bothwell, Utah the daughter of Rasmus (Daddy) and Mary Elvina Johnson Anderson. She married Dean Voss Orwin in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 19 June 1946. Ruby was reared in Bothwell, Utah. She attended school in Bothwell and Bear River High School. She worked at Utah Poultry, Gephart Store, and Grey Hound Buss Depot. She worked on the family farm and helped support her parents, brothers and sisters. To help support her sons on missions she had a branch of Beehive Distribution in her home. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the North Central States Mision. She served as Relief Society President, taught in Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary and the M.I.A. on both the ward and stake level.

She kept her hands busy tatting for her family, friends and members of the community. She was a wonderful cook, loved music, studying the scriptures and temple work. Her greatest joy was spending time with and serving her family and friends.

She had two sons: James and Terry.
