HOUSTON - Jackson Taylor King Sr., 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. He was born March 30, 1933, in Chickasaw County to the late Charles Herman King and the late Vannie Lee Ashcraft King. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired auto mechanic and a member of Macedonia Methodist Church.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at New Wine Fellowship Church at Houston. Bro. Tommy Kelly will officiate. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Hill King of Houston; one son, Jesse Herman King of Houston; one daughter, Janet Lee Blanton (Jeff) of Red Bay, Ala.; five grandchildren, Scarlet Leigh Castle of Georgia, JuliAnn Barnette and Jana Lee Barnette of Red Bay, Jonathon Andrew Barnette and Jacob Cody Barnette of Houston; one stepgranddaughter, April Blanton of Red Bay; one great-granddaughter, Jaylen Paige Barnette of Red Bay; one sister, Grace Sisk (Mitchell) of Shannon; three brothers, Joe King (Mary Jean), Bill King (Cricket) and Gene King (Sue), all of Houston; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jackson Taylor "J.T." King Jr.; a brother, Issac Louis King Sr.; and two sisters, Jurel Gambrell and Arlette Price.
Pallbearers will be Tony Bedolla, Andrew Hall Jr., Bobby Aubert, Ricky Harris, Randy Harris and Jay Criddle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Walters and Shaw Bishop.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
