Keith P. Ledbetter, 82, passed away on October 23, 2010. He was born in Madison County, AR, on June 2, 1928, to John Riley Ledbetter and Mable Fraze Ledbetter on the family farm. He grew up hunting and fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. As a teenager, he began laboring in the farmlands in Oklahoma, Arkansas, California, Idaho and Washington. He served our country from 1950 to late 1952, in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He met Barbara Taylor in Arkansas and they married in 1953 in Washington State, where he joined Barbara and her family after leaving the Army. Keith and Barbara lived in Wenatchee, later moving their family to Malaga, where they ranched and farmed cherries and apples. Keith worked at Alcoa from 1953 to 1991, where he was an Operator. After 1991, he continued his farming of cherries and apples.
Keith is survived by his wife, Barbara of Malaga; three sons, Lacey Ledbetter and Kevin Ledbetter, both of Malaga and Darryl Ledbetter of Spokane; five daughters, Leah Eddings and Lisa Harvey, both of Malaga, Rita Ledbetter of Sitka, AK, Carla Hoffert of East Wenatchee and Beth Brown of Cashmere; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with number seven to join the family in May. Keith was preceded in death by his father; mother; and seven siblings.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
