SELAH - Nola Viola Welch, 97, of Selah, WA went to rest with our Heavenly Father peacefully in her home on Thurs., Aug. 8th, 2013. Nola was born Jan. 14, 1916 in Fullerton, CA to Hubert and Mable Neal.

In 1917 Nola's family relocated to Arkansas, where she spent the next 30 years before moving to WA in 1947. She and her husband B.W. Welch (Tex) settled in Selah, WA in 1949 where they purchased a small apple farm. They enjoyed several years of harvesting apples before moving into the town of Selah in 1957. Nola was employed 12 years as a cook for the Selah Nursing Home; she also worked at Tree Top Fruit Warehouse for many years.

Nola enjoyed cooking, canning and playing dominoes, however, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. A devout Christian, Nola was a member of the "The Solid Rock Church" in Yakima, WA. Nola was also a member of the "Silver Set" of Selah, WA.

Nola was preceded in death by her beloved husband B.W. Welch, her son Loy C Withrow, daughter Clenna Withrow, and two stepsons, Gerald Welch and Ronnie Welch.

Nola is survived by her son Clay Withrow of Selah, WA, daughters Norma Mack of Terrace Heights, WA, Neta Batterson of Selah, WA and Sharon Breeding of Port Orchard, WA, stepdaughters Wilma Thygeson of Wenatchee, WA, Vonna Fisher of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Virginia Tipton of Batesville, Arkansas and Wanda Sanders of Mountainview, Arkansas, and stepson Bob Welch of Windfall, IN. Nola was a beloved grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Nola's love for God, her family, friends and neighbors will never be forgotten; she was respected and loved by everyone whose lives she touched.
