OBITUARY
From the Graceville Enterprise newspaper.
Mrs. Wm. Cox, Sr.
Buried Tuesday
CAME TO GRACEVILLE IN EARLY
1880s. LOVINGLY KNOWN AS "GRANDMA"
Rebecca Mills was born April 1, 1850 at Mayvore, County Westmeath, Ireland and passed away June 11, 1932. She was united in marriage to William Cox in October 1872 and in 1884 came to the U.S. and after a short residence at Hartford, Conn., came to Graceville, where she has since resided.
Mr. Cox died in June 1913 and a son James in September 1906.
Mrs. Cox is survived by six children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Her children are: Mrs. J.A. Burns Sr., Minneapolis, Dr. R.M. Cox of Edmore, No. Dak., William and John of this city, Mrs. J.M. Coyne of Morris, and Major R.F. Cox of Washington, D.C. All the children were here to attend the funeral except Major R.F. Cox who recently spent two weeks visiting his mother.
The funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning by the Rev. P.W. Rayner, rector of the Episcoopal church at Appleton and burial was made in the family lot in Lakeview Cemetery.
By her wish, the pallbearers were her sons Robert, William, and John and her sons-in-law H.A. Burns Sr. and J.M. Coyne and grandson H.A. Burns Jr.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Burns Sr. and son Hubert of Minneapolis, Dr. and Mrs. R.M. Cox and son William of Edmore, No. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Coyne of Morris, Mr. and Mrs. D.T. Burns and children of Fergus Falls, John Coyle and John Welch of Litchfield.
The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
Mrs. Cox was a sincere Christian, a loving wife and mother and a good friend and neighbor. Her friends were many and she was "Grandma" to everyone. She was a life long member of the Episcopal church and for many years a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and so another old pioneer has passed on but her memory will linger in the hearts of all who knew her.
