Fred Boyer was the son of Samuel and Lucinda Boyer. He was born in Kansas.

The 1900 US Census shows him living on a farm in Plattville, Mills County, Iowa with his parents and two brothers, Arthur L., born Sept 1881, and Samuel J., born May 1885. By the time this census was taken Fredie's older brother, Mahlon, and older sister, Lucinda had already been married.

The 1910 US Census shows Fred, 22 living with his wife, Minnie, 21 on a farm in Plattville with two small children, Mildred L, 2 and Lester, a newborn.

In 1920 Fred is living in Glenwood, Mills County with an additional child, Richard L. He is involved in some way with commercial fruit.
