Obituary - translated from German to English (from Church Records)

Christine Yost Bott was born on November 16, 1856, in Norka, Russia. She studied there in religious training in the reformed church, and was confirmed at age 11. In the year 1878, she came to America and married in the same year Ludwig Bott by Rev. Schnetampher (sp?) in Sutton, Nebraska.

To this marriage were nine children born. Six of them went to their home above before their mother. They were three boys and three girls. In September 1900, the family came to La Crosse, Kansas, and visited the church service in the German Methodist Church in Bison. One year later, Preacher Rev. Otto Donath (sp?)started the church in Alexander. It was the congregation formed with brother and sister Bott as the first members. Sister Bott took part in the services until the time of her sickness, which lasted 16 years.

She was a loving mother, a true wife, a devoted believer in the Lord and a worthy friend of the pastor, who was often in and out of her home. She brought much joy to her husband, her beloved children and her grandchildren. She was cared for in the home of her husband, and her son Adam and his wife until the end.

Three years earlier, she was able to celebrate the rare festival of the golden wedding anniversary, with the reading of the Holy Word and the singing of the sacred, beloved songs.

On the 16th of September, 1931, at 6:00 in the morning, the Lord called her to her home above. She had reached the age of 74 years, 10 months and 2 days. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Ludwig Bott, her two daughters, Mrs. Conrad Schwindt and Mrs. John Boese, her son Adam Bott, 11 grandchildren , her sons-in-law Conrad Schwindt and John Boese, her brothers John and Bill Yost, both of Harvard Nebraska, Anton Yost in Colorado, and Adam Yost in Alexander, Kansas, as well as many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place in the church of the United Brethren under the leadership of the undersigned, also Rev. William Pommerente and Rev. Wunhon spoke the word of comfort.
