Mrs. Lida Cox, whose husband died in the Mattoon hospital on Thursday, May 9, died suddenly of heart trouble at her home in Ash Grove township Thursday, just a week later. She was 60 years old, and before her marriage to Mr. Cox in 1912, was Lida Curry. She is survived by four stepchildren; Oran F. Cox, Ezra Cox, and Miss Rebecca Cox of Ash Grove, and Mrs. Effie Niles of Mattoon. An adopted daughter, Miss Marie Price, also survives. Mrs. Cox's maiden name was Lida McDaniel, a daughter of the late William and Mary McDaniel, pioneer residents of Ash Grove township.

Mrs. Floyd Cox died May 16 at her home near Windsor, just a few hours less than a week after the death of her husband. She was born Aug 7, 1855, in Ash Grove, her maiden name being Louisa E. McDaniel, and her age at death was 62 years, 9 months, 9 days. On Dec. 3, 1877 she married L. A. Curry, who died several years later. On Sept. 7, 1911, she and Mr. Cox were united in marriage. At the age of 14 the deceased united with the Ash Grove Christian church, but a few years ago she transferred her membership to the Lower Ash Grove Church of Christ. She is survived by one son, Wayne Curry, of Teheran, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Nannie Sailors of Decatur, Mrs. Jennie Hoyer of Stewardson and Mrs. Carrie Ellis of Mattoon; also four step children, Mrs. Effie Niles of Mattoon, Oran, Ezra, and Becca Cox of Eastern Shelby.
Elder J.V. Brady conducted funeral and burial services at Ash Grove church Saturday afternoon.
