One of the pioneers of Shelby county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carrie Ellis, at Sexson, Jun. 19, 1899. Mr. McDaniel was born in AL, Jul. 4, 1822 and was therefore 76y 11m 15ds old. In 1827 he moved with his parents to TN but in October of the same year the family came to Ash Grove, where he has since resided. He and Mary Jane Price were united in marriage, Feb. 8, 1843. To them were born seven sons and four daughters. His wife and three sons preceded him in death. Both Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel united with the Christian church in Oct 1843 under the ministry of Elder Tobias Grider, and lived devoted to their profession till death. Mr. McDaniel was a type of those grand old pioneers who are fast leaving us. Funeral and burial services were held at Ash Grove church Tuesday afternoon, and were largely attended. The bereaved family wish to extend their thanks to the friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy in the time of sickness and death. Windsor Gazette - 22 Jun 1899
