Fond du Lac Reporter, July 25, 2000. Gladys Marie Baus Gladys Marie Baus, 71, of 188 Royal Ave., passed away Saturday, July 22, 2000, at her home in Fond du Lac. She was born March, 16, 1929, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of the late William and Mary Schledger Sass. On Nov. 20, 1948, she married Martin Baus at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Gladys worked on the family farm in St. Cloud with her husband, Martin, until moving to Fond du Lac in 1970. She then worked for California Canners & Growers in Lomira and also at Friday Canning Company in Eden until her retirement. After retiring, she provided childcare to her grandchildren and the James and Mary Jagfeld family. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, arts and crafts, traveling and collecting elephants. Survivors include six children, Gloria (Robert) Hoff and Mary (Dean) Martin, both of Fond du Lac, Lawrence (Mary Ann) Baus of Waco, Texas, Carol Baus and companion Kyle Loehr of Brothertown, Elmer (Crystal) Baus of Van Dyne and Barbara (Thomas) Guell of Fond du Lac; 19 grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine (Gordon) Porter of Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Mueller of Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Marjorie "Marge" Sass of North Fond du Lac; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, on Nov. 11, 1990; three sister; and two brothers. * Services: A Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Zacherl Funeral Home. Deacon Larry Hughes will officiate. Burial will be at St. Claudius Cemetery in St. Cloud. * Visitation: Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the services. Zacherl Funeral Home is serving the family.
