Smith Calvin William Jesse Rufus Samuel was the second child of John Foster & Cynthia Caroline Melissa Frances (Vance) Preston.
Smith married Montie Lee Russell in McKinney, Collin Co, TX, on August 17, 1908. They had one son, Alva Preston, on March 25, 1910. He died from tuberculosis on February 29, 1912, when their son was two years old.
"Death from Tuberculosis. Smith Preston passed away in McKinney; buried in Princeton. Smith died last night in this city of tuberculosis. The deceased leaves a wife and little child. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. G. B. Dodson, of Princeton at which town his remains were laid to rest Friday afternoon."
