Alva W. Preston was the son of Smith & Montie Lee (Russell) Preston.

He married Alpha Ruth Connell in NM on August 20, 1928. Their children were: Kathryn Pearl, Wilda Anita, Glynda Adele, and Larry Ross.

Alva & Alpha were living in Polvadera, NM, where he farmed and provided his services as a minister in the Assembly of God Church. On Oct. 20, 1945, he became critically ill and was admitted to a hospital in Albuquerque. He had been coping with Uremia for several weeks which had been caused by Chronic Nephritis. He was in the hospital six days when death came at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. He was only 35 years old.

He died 13 days after his son's second birthday.

"PRESTON - Alva W. Preston, age 35, passed away here early Friday afternoon. Mr. Preston had been here for only a short time coming from Polvadera, N.M. He was a minister of the Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Preston is survived by his wife, three daughters, Kathryn Pearl, Wilda Anita and Glynda, by one son, Larry; by his mother, Mrs. J.M. Turner, two sisters, Marie M. Turner and Mary Alice Turner and by three brothers, J.R. Turner, who is here, Floyd L. Turner in the Navy and Giles M. Turner at Waco, TX.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Church Service arrangements will be announced by the French-Fitzgerald Mortuary."
