CROSSVILLE — Laura Alice Causey Lewis, 86, of Crossville, passed away Oct. 2, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lewis was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Bewelcome, MS, the daughter of Robert D. and Sadie Nunnery Causey.
She graduated from University High School in Baton Rouge, LA, attended Louisiana State University an received a B.S. in nursing from Vanderbilt University. She was a member of Homestead Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, James Lewis of Crossville; daughters, Christine Josey and husband Gary of Crossville, Virginia Jacobson and husband Rolf of St. Cloud, MN, and Barbara Hackett and husband David of Brentwood; sister, Claire Davis of Covington, LA; and grandchildren, Edwin Josey, Brian Jacobson, Katie Jacobson and Marshall Amis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis H. Lewis; and brothers and sisters, John Davis Causey, Christine Causey, Bobby Causey, Wren Causey and Clarence Causey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Willis and Laura Lewis Senior Adult Assistance Fund at Cumberland Homesteads Baptist Church.
