DECATUR -- Mitchell Smith, 66, of 323 Clearview St. SW, Decatur, died Monday at Decatur General Hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Brown Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Ingalls Iron Works.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Corrine Smith; a son, James Dennis Sherrill of Somerville; a daughter, Brenda Sherrill Nielson of Coral Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Audry Smith of Decatur and S. J. Smith of Tuscumbia; three sisters, Lurline Long of Moulton, Georgia Schlentz of California and Zella Hill of Texas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
