Sybil Bacon Bassett was born in Westminster, Massachusetts on April 17, 1784. She was the daughter of Timothy Bacon (1751-1823) and Sybil Parker (1758-1846). She married Fortunatus Bassett, II about 1802 probably in or around Lowville, New York. They moved to Rushville, New York by 1810. She had seven children, but died in 1815 ten days after giving birth to twins John Elsworth and Sybil Bacon. Her burial place is unknown, but her mother-in-law Sarah Bassett Bassett died in 1818 and is buried in French Cemetery, near Rushville.
