Savannah Morning News, issue of Sunday, the 7th of November, 1937: William Edward DeWITT - The body of William Edward DeWITT, 51, retired dredge boat captain, who died at his home at 3615 Morton Avenue Saturday morning, was sent last night by the Ferguson Funeral Home to Egypt, Ga., for funeral services and burial.

Savannah Morning News, issue of Sunday, the 7th of November, 1937: William E. DeWITT to be buried Egypt. The body of William E. DeWITT, formerly of Savannah, who died Saturday at his residence in West Palm Beach, arrived here at noon today. The body will be at Henderson Brothers until tomorrow morning, when it will be taken to Egypt by Henderson Brothers. The cortege will leave the chapel at 8:30 o'clock, with funeral services to take place at the Turkey Branch Baptist Church at 10 o'clock. The Rev. A. T. AUTRY of Guyton will conduct services. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. DeWITT is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie WALLACE DeWITT; three daughters, Mrs. Emma SMITH and Misses Lutille and Rosemary DeWITT; two sons, LeRoy and William DeWITT; a sister, Mrs. F. E. BALLARD of Memphis, and two grandchildren.
