John Thurman "J.T." Loy, 72, of Greenfield died at 10:35 p.m. Sept. 4, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Oct. 29, 1932 in Greenfield, a son of Alfred & Venia Reno Loy. He married Cecil Gross in Jerseyville Feb. 19, 1956 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Dawn Loy, of Murrayville; one son, Robert Loy of Ina; four sisters, Anna Mae (Don) Roberts of Roodhouse, Alice (Jerry) King of Jerseyville, Karon (Larry Joe) Armstrong of Rockbridge, Linda (Joe) Blake and Marilyn Loy of Greenfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death of two sisters, Dorothy Loy and Loretta Slightom and two brothers, Bob and Frank Loy. Mr. Loy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired farmer.

Friends may call at the Shields Memorial Home in Greenfield Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 4 until 8 p.m. where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Witt Cemetery, Rockbridge and memorials are suggested to the Greene County Health Nurses.
