According to her obituary "she was educated in the township schools and later attended Dayton, Covode and Reidsburg Academies. She devoted several years to teaching and there are in the community many who will remember her devotion and ability. At the age of 22 years she united with the Mahoning Baptist Church and during her entire lifetime was a devoted worker. For many years she was the teacher of a large class of young men in Georgeville. In the year of 1887 she was instrumental in the building of a Baptist Church on the Aul farm, the land and material being donated by Mr. Clemson Aul. For many years she was superintendent of the Sunday School giving of her time and worldly goods without measure. There was never anyone in need and trouble that came to her that did not receive aid and comfort."
