Shelby Ray Gillihan
Shelby Ray Gillihan, 82, of Melbourne, AR, died April 1, 2010, at his home. He was born August 3, 1927 in Twin Creek, AR. He was the son of Simon Paul Gillihan and Verla May Smith Gillihan. He was united in marriage to Sharon Gay Sherrell on October 18, 1958. He was a life-long resident of Izard County. He spent his working years logging and raising cattle. He was of the Church of Christ faith and was a member of Twin Creek Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon Gillihan; a son, Paul Edward Gillihan of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bishop of Batesville, AR; four brothers, Boyce Gillihan, Junior Gillihan and George Gillihan, all of Melbourne, and Clifton Gillihan of Calico Rock; two sisters, Geneva Blankenship and Catherine Phipps, both of Melbourne; three grandchildren, Brittni Cherron Washington of Melbourne, and Newlon Bryce Gillihan and Liberty Alexis Gillihan, both of McComb, MS; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, William "Billy" Davis Gillihan.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Tim Woolridge and Donald Gillihan officiating. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Jim Morrow, Randy Washington, Sonny Phipps, Jeff Gillihan, Toby Smith and Brad Wheelis.
Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Gillihan, Shannon Dockins, Donald Gillihan, David Sherrill and Charles Smith.
