George Washington Gillihan, son of the late Simon Paul Gillihan and Verla Mae Smith Gillihan, was born March 19, 1935 in Twin Creek, Arkansas. He departed this life June 30, 2020 at his home in Twin Creek, Arkansas at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 11 days. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Vivian Janette Duncan April 18,1962 in Batesville, Arkansas and together they raised two children. George spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. He was a logger by trade and also worked at the sawmill and at small engine repair. He was a Christian and was a member of Twin Creek Church of Christ for 56 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Janette Gillihan of the home; one son and daughter-in-law: Donald and Cindy Gillihan of Twin Creek and Mitzi and David Pierson of Melbourne; two brothers: Boyce Gillihan and Junior Gillihan of Melbourne; two sisters: Geneva Blankenship of Melbourne and Kathrean Phipps of Violet Hill; five grandchildren: Braden Tate (Tara Jo) of Melbourne, Corey Tate of Little Rock, Tass Gillihan of Mountain Home, Dwight Gillihan (Autumn) of Twin Creek, Taya Gillihan of Batesville; seven great grandchildren: Kavery Acklin, Jasper Tate, Kaleb Grisham, Alaina Gillihan, Kyler Tate, Rhett Gillihan, Ayden Thompson and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Shelby Gillihan and Clifton Gillihan and one granddaughter: Emily Gillihan.

Visitation and graveside funeral service will be Thursday, July 2 at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne. Visitation will begin at 10:00. Graveside funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
