GEORGE W. McDONALD
George W. McDonald, son of Frank and Ellen McDonald, was born in Lucas county, Oct. 20, 1898, and departed this life at the Yocom hospital, June 20, 1961, at the age of 62 years and eight months.
He was united in marriage to Artie DeWitt, July 6, 1919, and to this union five children were born: Marvin, of Des Moines; Mary Ellen Eddy, of Davenport, and Dorothy McDonald, of Lucas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne, and a daughter, Olive Mae Harrington.
He is survived by three granddaughters, Ruth and Marilyn Eddy and Ellen Jo McDonald, two grandsons, Nile McDonald and Vaughn Eddy; one daughter-in-law, Delores McDonald; four brothers, Francis, Tom and Charles of Chariton, and Alfred of Kokomo, Ind.; two sisters, Ollie Riggs of Chariton and Anna Baylor of Bloomington, Ill., a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Most of his life was spent on farms in Lucas county. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by his entire family.
George was a member of the Chariton Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James. A. Adams at the Church of the Nazarene Thursday, June 22, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
