RIGGS - Olive May McDonald, daughter of Frank M. and Ellen McDonald, was born in Monroe County, Iowa, July 9, 1889. She passed away at the age of 80 years, two months and 25 days at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital on Oct. 4, 1969. She had been at the Riggs Nursing Home the past two years.
On July 1, 1913, she was united in marriage to Fred D. Peterson, who passed away on Jun 1, 1933.
On Feb. 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to Grant Riggs, who passed away July 29, 1967. Three sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna Baylor of Bloomington, Ill., three brothers, Thomas and Francis of Chariton and Alfred of Kokomo, Ind., five step-children, Mrs. Kathryn Richards, Mrs. Irene Gardiner, Mrs. Martha Bauge, and Mrs. Phyllis Mauk of Des Moines; Mrs. Clyde Riggs of Chariton; 22 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She helped raise a nephew, Bill Mingles, from childhood.
Also surviving are several other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Duane Houston at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 1969 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
