Odegard, LaVon R. OREGON/ MOUNT HOREB - LaVon R. Odegard, age 84, of Oregon and formerly of Mount Horeb, died on Monday, July 9, 2007, at HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, surrounded by her family. She was born in Iowa County on Feb. 8, 1923, to Arthur and Florence (Weber) Rikli. On Sept. 24, 1940, she married Lester A. Odegard. He preceded her in death in 1977. LaVon was an avid Brewers fan, liked playing cards and enjoyed spending time with her family. Her cooking was famous, especially her fried chicken and her lefse. Survivors include her children, Doug (Diane) Odegard of Oregon, Delores (late Fred) Schweitzer of Mount Horeb, Connie (David) Lowrey of Cottage Grove, Sharon (late Bob) Sturdevant of Oregon, Ronnie (Betts) Odegard of Madison, LuAnn (Jeff) Tober of Oregon and Jeff Odegard of Oregon; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Odegard of Oregon; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Griffiths of Platteville; a brother, Delbert (Doris) Rikli of Vermont Township; her beloved cat, Jake; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard Odegard, in 1986; two brothers, Vernon and Melvin Rikli; and a sister, Irene Mulligan. Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th St., Mount Horeb, with Pastor Jacqueline Sharer Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Union Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME.
