Doris, age 80, of Platteville, passed away on Friday at her home, following a courageous battle with Mycosis Fungoides, a very rare skin cancer.
She was born the daughter of Arthur & Florence (Weber) Rikli. She married Vernon E. Griffiths on June 19, 1948. Doris was a caretaker most of her life.
The majority of her caretaking was as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Lafayette County Manor in Darlington from 1968 until retiring in 1988. She was an active member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and for the past 29 years, an active member of the Platteville United Methodist Church. She was a member and officer of the United Methodist Women, an officer of the United Methodist Barely Seniors Group, volunteered as a church greeter and server, a Sunday school teacher and assisted the church group for the Holiday Fair.
Doris enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She never missed a Griffiths or Rikli family reunion and loved to attend them. She also enjoyed reading, Broadway shows, movies and making frequent visits to the Mystique.
Doris is survived by her four children, three grandchildren, a brother, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon on Feb. 4, 1997; her parents; two brothers, Vernon and Melvin Rikli; and two sisters, LaVon Odegard and Irene Mullikin.
Funeral services were held at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, with Pastor John Christianson officiating.
Doris will be sadly missed by her family, church family and her special friends.
