BARNEVELD — Melvin A. Rikli, of Barneveld, Wisconsin, died on Friday, August 22, 1997 at Ingleside Care Center in Mount Horeb. Melvin Rikli was born on March 16, 1921 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Arthur and Florence (Weber) Rikli. He married the former Esther Ableman on June 6, 1945. The couple farmed until retiring to Mineral Point in 1982. Melvin is survived by a son, Lavern (Donna) of Dodgeville; two daughters, Janet (David) Lawinger of Mineral Point and Lynette (Dan) Miess of Dodgeville; a brother, Delbert (Dons) of Black Earth; three sisters, Lavon Odegard of Oregon, Irene Mullikin of Reedsburg and Doris Griffiths of Platteville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon Rikli; and a son, James Rikli. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 1997 at the LULLOFF-PETERSON-HOUCK FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
