Ivy June "Grandma" Surber
Ivy June "Grandma" Surber, 90, a lifelong Salida resident, died Dec. 5, 2004, at her granddaughter's home in Salida.
Mrs. Surber was born June 5, 1914, in Salida to Eli Bert and Eva Gusta (Fish) Brown.
Mrs. Surber married Frank James Surber in 1932 in Taos, N.M.
She enjoyed raising her family, traveling, going to Cripple Creek, auctions, crocheting and making wine.
Mrs. Surber was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Surber; sisters, Grace Surber, Gladys Rawlings, Mary Masingale and Bert Bennett; brothers Merle, Willis, Clarence and Marian; daughter, Frances Regina Surber and granddaughter Gina Surber Curtis.
She is survived by her son, Willis (Jane) Surber, Salida and daughter LaRae Highwood, Salida; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services are set for 1 p.m. Dec. 11, 2004, at Poncha Springs Cemetery.
A celebration of Mrs. Surber's life will follow at the Surber Ranch, 9460 U.S. 285; take your own refreshments.
