She was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on August 16, 1917, and came to Salida with her family as a child.

Her remains were cremated and a memorial services was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 1984 at Lewis and Glenn Chapel, Salida, Colorado with Father Gerry Schnackenberg, officiating.

Suvivors are daughters, Linda Snodgrass of Loma, Colorado and Nancy Purcell of Breckenridge, Colorado; a son James Masingale of Salida; a brother Mearl Brown of Salida; three sisters, June Surber of Salida, Alberta Bennett of Denver and Gladys Rawlings of Paradox, Colorado; and 6 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Mary was a beautiful seamstress, and she enjoyed making clothes for her family and many friends.
