COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Alta Francis (Tance) Loftis, 73, were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 7, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. Interment was in Cookeville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Loftis passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at home.
She was born March 3, 1937, in Jackson County to the late Harvey D. and Lillie C. Mansell Allen.
Tance worked for many years at Aqua Tech and was a member of Gentry's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Wayne Sherrell of Cookeville; two sisters, Edith Holder and Martha Lou Garrison, both of Cookeville; two grandchildren, Daniel and wife Carrie Sherrell and Jason Sherrell, all of Cookeville; and three great-grandchildren, Brittney, Gracie and Trenton Sherrell, all of Cookeville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lehmon Loftis; a son, Lloyd Loftis Jr.; a sister, Margie Jones; and six brothers, Carl B., Arthur, Dawson, Franklin D., Carlen F. and Richard Dale Allen.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Pastor Danny Lane will officiate at the services.
