Archie Evans, 74, lifelong resident of Estherville passed away early this morning at the Coleman hospital with pneumonia. He was taken to the hospital Friday.
Mr. Evans has been a carpenter for a number of years.
He is survived by his widow and nine children, Mrs. Wallace Lynch, William Evans and Lucille Evans of Estherville, Mrs. Roy Bartlemann of Graettinger, Mrs. Joe O'Brien of Emmetsburg, Joe Evans of Fairmont, Minn., John Evans of Cedar Rapids, Kathryn Evans of Omaha, Neb., and Tom Evans of Knoxville, Tenn.

Archie Evans, Pioneer, Passed Away Tuesday
Archie Evans who has been a resident of Estherville for 45 years passed away at the Coleman hospital Tuesday [December 20, 1938] morning after an illness of about four weeks.
Mr. Evans was in the employ of the railway some years ago. He was a carpenter by trade but for some time back his health was such that he was employed but little.
He is survived by his widow and four sons, Joseph of Fairmont, Minn., John of Cedar Rapids, Minn., John of Cedar Rapids, Thomas of Knoxville, and William of Dunnell, Minn. There are five daughters surviving, Miss Lucile, Mrs. W. H. Lynch and Mrs. LeRoy Bartleman of Estherville, Miss Catherine of Omaha and Mrs. J. O'Brien of Emmetsburg.
The funeral services were held this morning at nine o'clock at St. Patrick's church, the Rev. J. J. Keane officiating. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery south of the city. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 22, 1938)
