Daniel Delos Peet was born near Waverly, February 11, 1846, and died at his home at 9:30 o'clock Thursday night, June 29, 1916, aged 70 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Stewart in 1867 and to this union were born seven children: Fred, who died March 18, 1904; Charles Edward of Chicago; Jessie Holmes of Jacksonville, Bertha Harriet of Madison; Mrs. Walter Luttrell and Mrs. John Groves of Waverly; and Mrs. Albert Prickett of Greenville. He is also survived by his afflicted wife who was not able to attend the funeral; one brother, Curtiss Peet of St. Louis, and one sister, Mrs. Lewis Allen of Waverly, and ten grandchildren.

His life was mostly spent at Waverly, with the exception of two years when he lived at Orleans. He was a man of bright and cheerful disposition and was liked by everyone who knew him. He was in good health until about two weeks ago, when he was seized with congestion. This condition did not seem serious and he was bright and cheerful until the end. His death was a shock to family and friends.

Funeral services were held at the First M. E. church Sunday afternoon, July 2, 1916, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Francis E Smith, assisted by Rev. Sidney M. Bedford, pastor of the Christian church. Interment was in East cemetery.
