Father died when he was about 8 years old - William S Daniel guardian for William & sister Mary .

He married Rossana Grigsby
They operated Hotels in Fairfax and also lastly the famous Marshall House in Alexandria. Recall Marshall house was where first casualty of civil war took place. More on this

DIED, In Philadelphia, Penn., November 21st, at 10:15 A.M., LEWIS S PRITCHARTT, formerly of this city, in the 45th year of his age. (This article confirms correct age born 1815 with census data in 1850) Note - don't understand the use of word "formerly" as his family still in Fairfax.

Minors when father died so had guardians appointed - William T Allen and William S Daniel:

Pursuant to a decree of the county Court of Fairfax requiring it of us the the subscribers have pro ceded to make an equal division of the slaves in said decree mentioned as follows to with. We allot to William T ALLEN and wife, Negroes LUCY and MARIA appraised to Two hundred and Fifty dollars, to Lewis PRITCHARTT, Negroes JANE and SAMPSON appraisement Two hundred and Thirty Dollars and to Mary PRITCHARTT , Negro ELIZA appraisement to Three hundred dollars. This so fin is nearest and equal division in kind that can be made, but not being worthy? so in value, we direct that Mary PRITCHARTT do pay to William T ALLEN and wife the same of Ten dollars and that she pay to Lewis PRITCHARTT the sum of Thirty dollars.
