Dorothy P. "Dot" Freeman, 91, of South Hutchinson, died Sept. 1, 2010, at Mennonite Manor.

She was born Oct. 5, 1918, at Arlington, the daughter of Earnest and Ruth Esther Schillinger Massow.

She was a graduate of Arlington High School in the class of 1935. During World War II, she lived in California and worked at Lockheed Aircraft and was a brake mechanic on the P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft. She and her husband moved back to Hutchinson in 1949. She was a homemaker.

On July 13, 1942, she married Robert N. Freeman in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 7, 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Robert E. Freeman on Jan. 18, 2009.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. A visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Friday with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County or Hutchinson Animal Shelter, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
