Walter E. Cummickel was born July 17, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas to Art and Jean Cummickel and passed away July 22, 2010, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Walter was an accomplished printer and typesetter and owned and operated a successful small graphical arts business for 25 years.

He was a positive influence to the younger generation, with several years of service at the Missouri Baptist Children's Home.

He enjoyed life, people, and challenges with duplicate bridge, outdoor cooking and in later years, was an avid bird watcher.

Most of all, Walter was a loving and devoted husband to Ann, his wife and life partner of 61 years. In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his two sons, Rodney Cummickel of Garland, Texas and Kevin Cummickel of Shawnee, Kansas, and his daughter Jill Saighman of Blue Springs, Missouri. He was preceded in death by a beloved son, David Cummickel.


SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Truman Room, first floor at Truman Medical Center Lakewood-Long Term Care, 7900 Lee's Summit Road, Kansas City, Missouri.

CEMETERY: An 11:30 a.m. graveside service will follow the memorial service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Raytown, Missouri.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Long Term Care Recreational Program at Truman Medical Center c/o the Trustee. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left online at www.dwnewcomers.com
