WALNUT COVE Mr. James Franklin Carter, 90, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Stokes County on July 7, 1920 to James Richard and Della Rhodes Carter. He was a member of Meadows Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. A 3:00 p.m. funeral service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Meadows Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years; Laura Nelson Carter, a son: James W. Carter, two sisters; Stella Wilkins and husband Henry, Lonie Beck and husband Grover, one brother; Royal Carter and wife Catherine, and a brother-in-law; Tony Reid. He is survived by one son; Richard "Benny" Carter and wife Brenda, of Walnut Cove, two sisters; Leola Reid, and Doris Hughes, one brother; Charlie Carter and wife Hazel, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Carter of Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home of Benny and Brenda Carter.
