Funeral Services For DeLoss C. Burkman -

After a lengthy illness, DeLoss (Doc) Burkman passed away at the St. Paul hospital last Tuesday evening, November 16th. He was a long time Palmer business man, proprietor of the Palmer Parlor. He was 60 years of age....

DeLoss Clifford Burkman was born September 19, 1905 at the farm home north of Palmer to Effie and Clifford Burkman, and grew to manhood in the Palmer community. He received his education in the Palmer school. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1928 he moved to Grand Island, where he lived for six years and in 1934 he moved back to Palmer where he operated a tavern for 30 years until ill health forced his retirement.

He was married to Opal Harris at Ord on April 25, 1947.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Grand Island.

Survivors besides his wife Opal include a daughter, Marilyn Knapp of Palmer, a sister, Mrs. Bernice Ewers of St. Paul and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
