SAN FRANCISCO — Nellie "Yvonne" Burkman, 76, of San Francisco, Calif., died May 3, 2014, at home.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Bob Rhodes will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
She was born July 13, 1937, in Grand Island to Clifford and Nellie Burkman. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. She later moved to California, where she was employed by Levi Strauss for 32 years.
Nellie was of the Methodist faith. She truly loved her animals.
Survivors include her stepsisters and stepbrother-in-law, Sharlene and Clarence Minor of Alda and Shirley Mackey of Philips; a stepbrother-in-law, Don Liebhart of Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lyle "Tom" Burkman; a stepsister, Ruth Liebhart; and a stepbrother-in-law, Bob Mackey.
