Funeral services for Lyle T. Burkman, 47, who died Sunday at an Aurora nursing home, will
be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with the
Rev. Vernon Schroeder, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial
will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
Mr. Burkman was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Grand Island, to Clifford and Nellie Birdsley
Burkman. He grew up in Grand Island, and attended school here. He had been in poor
health most of his life. He was a member of the Eastside Chapel.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. John (Nellie) Smith of Grand Island, and a sister, Yvonne Burkman of San Francisco, Calif. His father preceded him in death.
