Word was received by local relatives of the death of former local resident, Edmund Thede, 83, who died at his home in Abbotsford on April 6, 1972, the day before his 57th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Thede was married to Hattie Wimpel,(sic) who formerly resided just west of New Holstein. Mr. Thede had been in ill health for about two years.

A son of William and Cecillia Lau Thede, the deceased was born in North Dakota. Following the death of his father, his mother returned to New Holstein with her children.
He received his education at the New Holstein public school. Following his marriage to Miss Hattie Wimpel on April 7, 1915, the couple farmed in the town of Colby until retiring.

Survivors are the widow, two sons, Nilas (sic) on the homestead farm and Leroy in Spencer, Wis., and a brother, John Thede of Eugene, Oregon; two brothers, Alvin and William and one sister, Mrs. Albert Jochimsen, are deceased.

Funeral services were held at the United Church of Christ at Colby and interment was in the parish cemetery of Colby.
