James Laury Storm, son of William and Elizabeth [Rankin] Storm, was born in Ash Grove township, Shelby county, IL, Sep. 21, 1854 and departed this life at his home near Windsor, IL, Mar. 3, 1927, at the age of 72y 5m 12ds. With the exception of a short time spent in Texas, and a few years in Mattoon, he has lived his entire life near the place of his birth. In the year of 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Ollie Jane Hood, and to them were born five children, two of whom preceded him in death, Annabell in infancy and Flora, who was killed in a train accident near Shelbyville, twenty-six years ago. There survive two sons and a daughter, Orlie O. Storm of Salt Lake City, UT, F. Guy Storm and Mrs. F. C. Luby of Mattoon. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters, John H. Storm, Trowbridge; Hiram Storm of Whiting, IN; Wesley A. Storm of Shelbyville; Freeman Storm of Windsor; Mrs. Elvira Dietz of Windsor and Mrs. Elnora Lawton of Texas. Also there are six grandchildren, Beatrice, Dorothy, John and Nancy Storm, and Jean and Frank Luby, and a number of nephews and nieces. Mr. Storm through his life long residence in this community, and because of his quiet unassuming disposition and honesty, has won for himself and his children the respect of the entire population of the community, who with the above mentioned relatives feel most keenly their loss in the passing of a friend and neighbor. Mr. Storm had been in failing health for the last year, and on Sunday, Feb. 20, his condition became serious, resulting in his death in the early hours of the morning on Mar. 3. Funeral and burial services were held at Ash Grove church Friday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Ira Blythe assisted by Rev. J. M. Luby of Mattoon. Singing was by the Ash Grove choir. - Windsor Gazette - 8 Mar 1927
