Marjorie Pearce
Marjorie T. Pearce, 78, of Bad Axe, former resident of Cass City and Grant Township near Owendale, died Saturday morning, Oct. 25, 1997, at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon, following a short illness.
Born Aug. 26, 1919, in Grant Township, she was the daughter of Manley L. and Alta S. (Turner) Fay.
She married Newton Oliver Barker, who preceded his wife in death Nov. 7, 1961. Mrs. Barker later married Robert D. Pearce May 7, 1966, in Cass City. He died April 13, 1992.
After attending Cass City High School, she helped on the family farm in Grant Township, was employed in the dietary department at the former Hubbard Hospital, Bad Axe, and together with her husband Robert, owned and operated the M&R Grocery Store in Cass City.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Terrilynn V. Holland of McAllen, Texas, and Fay M. Bullock and her husband Dale of Sandusky; one son, Earl M. Barker of Detroit; 7 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Charlotte M. LaPeer of Cass City; 2 brothers, Manley Fay of Waterford and Stanley Fay and his wife Beverly of Clarkston, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Daniel Holland; an infant brother, Gerald Fay; a brother-in-law, Gaylord LaPeer, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Fay.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the MacAlpine Funeral Home, Bad Axe. The Rev. Robert P. Garrett, pastor of Visitation Elkton United Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial was in Colfax Cemetery,

Pearce - Barker Vows exchanged
United in marriage May 7 by Rev. M. R. Vender in the Vender home were Robert D. Pearce and Mrs. Marjorie Barker, both of Bad Axe.
Mr. Pearce is the son of Mrs. Iva Pearce of Cass City, formerly of Ubly, and the late James Pearce of Ubly. Mrs. Barker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manly Fay Sr. of Cass City.
Witnessing the ceremony were Mrs. Manly Fay and Mrs. Fred Knoblet, sister of Mr. Pearce.
The bride wore a navy blue suit with a corsage of white orchids. The attendants had corsages of yellow roses.
A wedding dinner was served at the Crossroads Restaurant and the table was centered with a decorated three-tier wedding cake.
Following a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Pearce will live in Bad Axe.

Fay-Barker Wedding at Elkton Sunday
A quiet wedding was solemnized at the Elkton Methodist parsonage Sunday, June 1, at 3:00 p. m., by Rev. Cedric Harger, when Miss Marjorie Fay, Bad Axe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manley Fay, became the bride of Mr. Newton Barker, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Barker.
They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Lapeer, sister and brother-in-law of the bride.
The bride street street-length dress of pink with blue accessories and the bridesmaid was attired in a street-length dress of blue with pink accessories. Both wore corsages of pink, yellow and white flowers.
After the ceremony, the bridal party returned to the home of the bride's parents where a wedding dinner was served to fifteen members of the immediate families. A centerpiece of pink, white and lemon snapdragons adorned the bridal table.
Mrs. Barker has been employed for four years at the Hubbard Memorial Hospital at Bad Axe. Mr. Barker assists his father as a barber.
They will reside in Bad Axe.
