Albertus Bixler was born near Terre Haute, Indiana, on August 12, 1853, the fourth child of John and Susan Bixler. With his parents, he moved to Jasper county, Illinois, when a small child. Here he lived until after his marriage to Miss Elizabeth Gibson, to which union were born seven children, four of whom are still living.

In the early eighties, Mr. Bixler moved his family to Kingman county, Kansas, where his wife passed away in 1890. He returned to Illinois some time after this and was married in 1891 to Miss Adaline Wyatt of Wayne county, Illinois. They returned to Kingman county, Kansas, where they lived for a year and then returned to Illinois. In 1897 they came to Oklahoma where they filed a claim six miles north of Waynoka. Mr. and Mrs. Bixler with their family have made their home in this vicinity since first coming to Oklahoma. To them have been born seven children, five of whom survive.

Mr. Bixler was converted in 1908 at Bethel school house in a meeting held by J. W. DeVault and Eugene Ferguson. He joined the Baptist church at that place and was baptized by Mr. Ferguson. He has enjoyed attendance upon religious services and taking part in a humble way wherever he could.

He has been in poor health for four or five years and has realized recently that he could not remain here long. He has spoken often in the past few months of his departure and his readiness to go. Last Monday night Mr. Bixler was taken ill with the malady that has troubled him for years and grew steadily worse until at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 1931, when he passed away at his home nine miles northwest of Waynoka, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 9 days.
