Julia was the daughter of Clinton Low and his wife Margaret "Maggie" Finlayson. Her father had served in the Civil War, later marrying a little Scottish lass named Maggie in 1870. Julia had one older sister, Janet "Jennie" born in 1876. They lived many years in Iowa. Julia married Charles Howe and had four children: Mary Belle born 1893 (adopted); Alvin (died as a baby), Vera and David. Julia had health problems and the family moved to Tampa, Florida in 1925 but sadly, in 1927 Julia died. She was returned to Nemaha, Iowa where she is buried. She was a member of OES (Order of the Eastern Star).
