Jefferson Lawrence Quillin (service records Quillen) entered service May 5, 1916 at Camp Sheridian, Montgomery, Alabama, before his 16th birthday as a bugler. He sailed for France on November 3, 1917 from Hoboken, NJ. He was a private with Co B 167th US Infantry, AEF. Rainbow Division, 42nd.
He died July 26, 1918 at Chateau Thiery France in the battle field from wounds received. Buried Seringes et Nesles, France Oise Aisne American Cemetery, Grave No 48, Row 20, Block B.
His mother, Arabella McRae Quillin went with other Gold Star mothers to France to visit his grave.
He has a memorial stone in the Clayton, Alabama Cemetery where his family is buried.
