A WWI soldier, Jeff was a member of the Rainbow Division 167th Infantry 42nd Division and died at the age of 17 in battle at Chateau Thierry France, buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Grave 48, Row 20, Block B located in Seringes-et-Nesles, France
A memorial stone is in the family plot in Clayton Cemetery. As a Gold Star Mother, who lost a son in France, Belle Quillin, was able to go with a group of other Gold Star Mothers to visit their sons graves in France after the war.
