Myles, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, at Woodland Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday August 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Rick Varner presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Athletic Association or Isabella County Commission on Aging.
Myles was born the son of the late Hugh Edward and Mary Jane (Clare) Campbell. He continued to live on Baseline Rd. for 81 years. He married the late Freda Jones on Feb. 19, 1944, at Sacred Heart Church. He was employed as an iron worker for Douglas Steel until a serious on-the-job accident forced him to switch careers. He spent 20 years hauling milk for Morval LaLone Trucking, after which he retired. Some of Myles' favorite pastimes were hunting, gardening, attending sporting events of his grandchildren, and making macrame lawn chairs. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish volunteering at Bingo, the Mt. Pleasant Knights of Columbus Council 1297, and the Elks Club. Myles is survived by six children, Jackie (Larry) Fitzsimmons of Grand Rapids, Sharon (Earl) Hartman of Mt. Pleasant, Janet (Gerry) Cappo of Midland, Larry (Kay) Campbell of Charlevoix, Jane Sweeney of Mt. Pleasant, and Denise (Rick) Harris of Northville; 19 grandchildren, Brian (Jen) Masternak, Jason (Holly) Masternak, and Cathy (Matt) Tracey, Kevin (Sandy) Hartman, Ken (Jennifer) Hartman, Kasey (Dave) Lichota, Kirt (Kristin) Hartman, Kiplin (Leslie) Hartman, and Korey Hartman, Ryan Cappo and Amy (Mike) Doornbos, Todd Myers, Lauri (Aaron) Liscomb, and Sarah McManus, Scott (Elena) Campbell and Janel (James) Colquhoun, Marie (Jeff) Natzel, and Jackie Harris and Andy Harris; 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Colleen Campbell of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda in 1993; two children, JoAnn McManus in 1996 and David Campbell in 1956; three sisters, Kathleen Houghton, Dorothy Briggs, and Maxine Shepard; and five brothers, Donald, Clare, Carlyle, Robert, and Hugh Jr.
